Day 328/365: Selfless Love of Lola Ising.

Day 328/365: Selfless Love of Lola Ising.

November 25, 2011

Today, I remember Lola Ising. She is one of those grandmother who truly care for me and watch me over my growing years when I used to live in Malabon. A woman who never had her own child but cares for her husband and his children which she consider as her own too. A woman where her heart is immeasurable by the love she offered throughout the years. An inspiring selfless love.

As you join hand with our Lord. I pray that you found the eternal peace and I will never forget your care as I carry it with my own family and live a life of love of Lola Ising.

Here’s a beautiful prayer for you Lola Ising.

Thank you for the gift of love,
now you’re sharing it up above.
You had many things to say.
All in a caring way.
You always saw good in everyone,
No matter what they’ve done.
You were always the one we could all lean on.
Even though it must have felt like a ton.
You were always the strength of the family.
Now we must let you rest calmly.
As we say goodbye,
as tears roll down our eyes.
I know your place in heaven has a good view.
Because you’re telling God,
I need to keep an eye on a few.
I know you will always be in our hearts and mind.
So Lola Ising,
I must go, but I’ll never forget you’re one of a kind.

Day 133/365: I am your House Kitchen Master! Thanks to Lolo Abel

Day 133/365: I am your House Kitchen Master! Thanks to Lolo Abel

May 13, 2011

I never went to a Culinary School, or served a restaurant’s kitchen for a job. I am a self-proclaimed House Chef 🙂

How did I learned cooking? Coming from a family who’s main passion is eating and selling foods. My grandfather- Lolo Abel from Malabon City is known for his Fried Duck and Fried Rice. He served some of the known family in Malabon as the head cook and his skills is a self taught, self learned style of cooking. All of his siblings, including my mother were all a born house cook master!

I can still remember that I used to watched him preparing a duck, from butchering to frying. He patiently tying the entire duck meat with strings before boiling it to preserve the form until it was really tender. The only waste from a duck was its feathers, Lolo Abel has his own original menu even for the duck’s blood. And you will be surprised on how many ingredients he needs to mix to make its sauce and you can eat even its bones.

So since I am his avid watcher, I was able to taste as well his rabbit menu and even bats! Yeah, I think Lolo Abel loves to cook a variety of meat delicacy and of course, they were all appealing and delicious! Btw I was only 4 years old then.

My mom like my Lolo Abel is a Kitchen Queen, who cooks the best Kare Kare and Pancit Luglug. She never went to any cooking school too but she can cook a menu based on what is available and I bet my fingers if you will never like it. For sure Lolo Abel and Nanay is the kitchen head master now in Heaven…Hugs to you both!

Challenge me with what is available ingredient and what kind of cuisine you would like me to prepare. I will always ends up with something without reading any recipe book. I will just trust my smell, my taste, and my cooking style to prepare a special menu which I cannot repeat at all. I call it the art of cooking! every menu is original! I should probably write my recipe’s for a business soon.

I am your House Kitchen Master!

Jose Rizal High School Classmates and Friends Mini-Reunion

February 6, 2010
Pescadores Restaurant
Letre Road, Malabon City

Two decades ago, these faces were all so innocent and now, you can see the face lines of life, the glow of happiness, the look of strength, and the smile of accomplished man and woman of Jose Rizal High School batch ’86

The mini-reunion is a success in reminiscing who we are back then, the 80’s songs, our class pictures, the batch graduation memories, and foremost the high school romance. Thanks to the effort of our dearest and wonderful friend, Ms. Cynthia Gutierrez.
Our life has indeed evolved too fast, and yet here we are celebrating the good all years being friends and classmates in spite of not seeing each others for decades. Cheers to you all my friends and classmates! Till our next gathering!

Enjoy viewing!

A rainy day to photo shoot in the flooded area of Malabon City. Thanks to Mr. Rene Gino for accommodating us even it was a very short notice. The location was truly fantastic for wedding shoot and nature themed subjects. The garden setting has so many focal points to consider, I just hope it was a sunny day to maximize the venue, though its drizzling I believe it helps to made some touch for our subject to blend with natures fresh green in her bohemian floral outfit.

Thanks to Allan and Jenny as well for the full support to Majo.

Well done Majo!
