Monday Cooking Experiment – Baked Fish and Spanish Sardines Pasta

It’s Monday! and I am craving for good food. So I decided to cook and prepare another unique dish without any guide but only my test buds.

For Monday, I want to eat Fish, not fried, not boiled but baked. So if its baked, a Pasta will be a good combination, but  I still want a consistency of a Fish taste with a creamy sauce for my pasta- so my supermarket list ends this way.

Fish Gindara almost 1/2 kilo @ P128

Fresh Basil Leaves, you can have this on a  pre-packed mini size @ P17.20

Onion Spring mini bundle @ P14.75

Fresh Mushroom Shitake,  1 package @P71.00

Spaghettini Chirico Pasta Noodle, 1 package @P75

American Heritagae Cream Cheese, 1 package @P92

Next time, I’ll try to include the amount/weights, my only reference for now is my receipt. Anyway, here are the additional items from my Grocery Cabinet, I dont have the price but for sure its an easy to find at your favorite supermarket.

AjiShiho Garlic Flavor 2 packs

Olive Oil (6 table spoons)

McCormick Black Pepper mill (1 teaspoon)

McCormick Garlic Granules (2 spoons)

Spanish Sardines 1 bottle

Walsh Grenadine Syrup, 2 table spoon

Nestle All Purpose Cream 1 pack

Baked Fish Procedures:

You dont need a huge oven for this, all I’ve got is a mini oven, this is the typical wedding gift or a Christmas raffle unit.

  • Place your Fish in an Aluminum Foil, extend it to a size you can fully wrap it after you put all the ingredients.
  • Put a Handful of Chopped Fresh Basil Leaves on top of the Fish
  • Sprinkle the following: black pepper mill, garlic granules and Ajishiho garlic
  • Wrap it tight and place it on your mini oven for 15 mins.
  • After 15 mins, unwrapped and pour the grenadine syrup. Place it back to the oven leave the foil open for another 10 mins.

Pasta Noodle Procedures:

  • This is very easy, boiling water add 3 table spoon of olive oil. And place your pasta noodle. Roughly 15 to 20 mins for this type of Pasta to make it firm.

Spanish Sardines Pasta Sauce:

  • Pre heat your sauce pan.
  • Chopped Shitake Mushrooms  (4 slices per piece is okay)
  • Chopped Onion Springs. (not too minced like)
  • Pour your remaining olive oil on the sauce pan.
  • Cook the spanish sardines in a saute style, mashed it in olive oil and add the chopped onion spring (5 mins)
  • Add Chopped Shitake Mushroom, saute for another 5 mins
  • Add All Purpose Cream, stir for 2 mins
  • Add Cream Cheese, stir for 5 mins
  • Pour the AjiShiho pack, the amount depends your salty taste buds

Please check the pictures to see the ingredients and the before and after look. The red sauce is the grenadine syrup. I prefer to use it to add color and sweet, otherwise this menu will look so plain and pale.

How much it cost me?  Approximately P600 plus the labor of love of cooking.

Good for 4 servings at P150 each.

Leave a comment and let me know if you like it.

Enjoy eating!
