The Kids of Palaui Island

The Kids of Palaui Island

April 3, 2010
Palaui Island
Sta Ana, Cagayan
Philippines

Palaui Island is our ultimate destination during our Holy Week 2010 Road Trip. From Manila to Tuguegarao City, a 10 hours drive passing Cabanatuan and Isabela and a 2.5 hours drive from Tuguegarao to Port Irene, San Vicente. Thanks to my Monty, for her sweet ride, patience and safety to brought us safe to the the last barangay in the northeastern portion of the island of Luzon.

These are the kids of Palaui Island, who welcomed us with their beautiful smile when they saw our cameras and shouting for Picture! Picture! A rare moments to capture their innocence and playful moves while I trigger my shutter. During school days, these kids needs to walk for an hour or two just to attend classes. I consider them the pure hearted guardian of the island, without commercialism and away from the city chaos. And my hope for their loving parents is to teach them the value of protecting the gift of nature and be proud of Palaui Island, a true nature sanctuary.
