“A human being is part of a whole, called by us the “Universe,” a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest-a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
All of humanity is connected. Humanity is comprised of the animals, the plants and trees, man, and all aspects of creation. The word man is derived from the Sanskrit word manu, which means thinker. So when referring to man, we are talking about the thinker, us as creative intelligence and spirit. At present, the modern view points and lifestyles of many in our physical world are oblivious to the connectedness of all beings in the universe. At the inner core of man’s being, we are all joined by our true essence, light and love. Many of our world’s religions’ holy books and many cultures’ creation myths describe how humanity was created. In fact, all of the world’s holy books are indeed, books that describe creation at its essence and instruct us in our quest to harmonize with Mother Nature and the Universal Laws.
